Manhunt Launched by Yakima Police After Deadly Shooting
A major manhunt is underway as authorities search for a 21-year-old man considered "armed and dangerous" after a fatal shooting at a party early Sunday morning.
POLICE KNOW WHO THEY'RE LOOKING FOR
A press release from the Yakima County Sheriff's Office has identified the suspect as Isreal Barriga Vargas, a Yakima resident who allegedly shot an 18-year-old man during a fight at the party.
The fatal shooting incident happened at a party around 2:00 am in the 1500 block of Keys Road in Yakima.
AUTHORITIES WERE ALERTED BY HOSPITAL OFFICIALS
Deputies were alerted to the shooting after officials at MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital reported that a gunshot victim had been rushed into emergency treatment. Despite efforts to save him, the young victim died of his injuries later Sunday. Police have yet to publicly identify the victim.
POLICE ARE SEARCHING FOR THE SUSPECT AND HIS VEHICLE
After the shooting, Vargas fled the scene in a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer, with Washington license plate CRH8859. Authorities are actively searching for him and are urging the public to be vigilant but careful.
IF YOU SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING
It's unknown as to where the suspect is located, if he's still in the Yakima area or has fled the valley or the state. In the past many suspects involved in serious crimes have fled to California or Mexico because of family ties in those areas. You're advised not to approach Vargas if spotted but to report any sightings immediately.
