Jobless Rate in Yakima County Up Slightly

Close to a thousand more people were out of work last month in Yakima County compared to April. The Employment Security Department released figures that reported Yakima County's jobless rate for May was 10.8 percent, up nearly a half point. Kittitas County's rate was 8.8 percent, while the state's jobless rate was 8.4 percent. The biggest jobs in Yakima County were in manufacturing, and the biggest job losses were in federal and state government.
