Moses Lake Police said the suspect was located and arrested.

MLPD Locates Cash Theft Suspect in Moses Lake

Monday morning, a theft was reported by a woman who had left what she told police was a dangerous domestic situation. She was traveling with a man, and they had stopped at a Moses Lake motel the night before.

The woman, fearing for her situation, brought over $40K in a bag, explaining that it was her life savings. She was traveling with a Colville man, and police did not say what his connection was to the woman but indicated the pair had stopped at a hotel on Kittleson Road as they were returning from Seattle.

Their final destination was not made clear to police, but early Monday the woman said she woke up after hearing the hotel door close. She then alleges that she discovered her companion had taken her bag of money.

Police Located the Suspect, But Not All the Cash

Around 9:30 p.m. Monday night, an employee at a business recognized the suspect from a news bulletin and called authorities. When the suspect was caught, he had the money bag, but some of the cash was missing.

He's now facing multiple charges as the investigation continues.
