Dilly Deli’s Meat Jagger Has Jalapeños But Plays It Cool
I'm always a sucker for a good sandwich and I do like a little spice every once in a while. That's why I went back to Dilly Deli to try the Meat Jagger. It was described to me as a little spicy by the staff there.
It's made with their house roasted beef. There's bacon, cream cheese, red pepper pesto, Jalapenos, lettuce, tomato, onion, and avocado. Now that's a lot of ingredients and the mixture of the spicy and the creamy tends to reduce the spiciness of the sandwich, so if you don't like spiciness, don't freak out.
How spicy is it?
Normally I would say that any sandwich that has jalapenos on it might potentially be outside my comfort zone but not this one. The jalapenos were way, way in the background. The first thing I noticed was the crunch of the bacon, the coolness of the cream cheese, avocado and the red pepper pesto toned down the spiciness of the jalapeno. The roast beef was perfect, and I chose whole wheat for the bread.
To be honest, I wasn't sure I was going to like it when I bought it. But that's why I bought it, to find out if I'd like it. For me If I had to choose between the Porky Pig, (A great sandwich) and the meat Jagger, (also a great sandwich) I think I would go with the Porky Pig every time. But that's just me.
Yes, they have salads.
By the way, I was chastised online the other day for not mentioning the fact that Dilly Dely does salads. Yes, I'm sure their salads are wonderful. But I didn't want a salad, I wanted a sandwich.
The last time I was in and got the Porky Pig, I decided I needed a homemade chocolate chip cookie. It was excellent, but I probably didn't need it, so I didn't buy one this time.
(I know you don't believe me.)
