Every once in awhile I will go on a reading frenzy, and one of the authors I love to read is Charles Dickens. I love reading "A Christmas Carol."

Now if you are a fan of Dickens and literature, here's some news: The desk where Charles Dickens wrote his stories will be bought, thanks to a government-backed grant. The Dickens Museum in London received a $1.2 million heritage fund to buy the desk. Robert Moye, who is the museum director, says the desk and chair has been on loan and will now become a permanent fixture at the museum.

Dickens used the desk during the last years of his life, when he wrote such works as "A Tale of Two Cities," which opens with the classic line: "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times."

The desk remained in the Dickens family until it was sold for charity in 2004.
