Icy Weather Termporary Closed Yakima Airport

Ice on the runway kept the Yakima Airport closed until about 10:00 Wednesday morning.

The 6:00 a.m. flight to Seattle was delayed more than four hours. the 11 o'clock flight was canceled.

Airport officials say they have to wait for the ice to melt because they don't use chemicals or de-icer. managers say they don't like to close the airport, but safety comes first.

Managers don't expect any delays or cancellations today.
