At least five homes were damaged by a water main break Thursday morning in the area of North 58th Avenue and Englewood Avenue in Yakima. Zella West with Nob Hill Water says the break happened at about 7:15 a.m. and water poured for about 30 minutes before it was turned off and repairs were started. Crews have been on scene all morning and roads have been closed in the area including the westbound lanes of Englewood at North 56th Avenue. The road is open now or expected to be opened soon.
West says damage to the homes was the result of water getting into basements and other areas. No injuries were reported.
She says they're working with the homeowners and and insurance company to take care of the damage caused by the flow of water.
