Hitting the road or the friendly skies, either way, millions of us are heading out this summer and it starts this weekend.

SmarterTravel reports AAA is predicting drivers will hit the most traffic tomorrow (May 23rd), and Friday (May 24th) in the later afternoon as commuters leave work early and mix in with holiday travelers. It's what we have come to expect but this notice is just heads up on big the headache will be!

If Seattle or Portland are in your GPS, you might want to know that most major metro areas are predicted to experience traffic that is up to three times worse than usual.

The east coast is thought to have the nation's worst traffic, especially around Boston and Washington, D.C.  All in all some 43 million Americans will take a trip in this time period, an increase of 1.5 million over last year.

While June 21st is the official start of summer, the American cultural mindset is that the window for summer travel starts next Monday - Memorial Day (Monday, May 27th).
With Americans love of summer vacations and a strong economy, Fox News is reporting the airline industry's trade group, Airlines for America, forecasts that just over 257 million people will fly on U.S. carriers between June 1st and August 31st.
That's a 3.4 percent increase over last summer, and equates to about 2.8 million travelers a day.
The good news is the trade group says airlines are adding 111,000 seats per day, more than the predicted 93,000 increase in daily passengers.
So you'll probably have a seat, but leg room - well, that's another question!
However you go, safe travels.
