GIPSA Getting Support From Iowa Senator
USDA sent a letter to multiple meat and livestock organizations stating that they will be moving forward on their Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Act, GIPSA The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and The national Pork Producers along with other animal ag groups are opposed to GIPSA and any changes that would limit producers marketing options while adding layers of bureaucracy and open even more doors to litigation. Surprising, pro-farm Senate Republican Chuck Grassley ( Iowa) told reporters on Tuesday that he's supportive of the USDA efforts. Saying the rule would give family farmers more confidence in the markets by seeking to balance relationships between producers and the companies that purchase their product. And interestingly the “voluntary departure” of one of the scientists appointed to EPA's Scientific Advisory Panel to determine if the pesticide can cause cancer has forced the agency to postpone the meeting that was supposed to take place from Oct. 18-21, until later this year. and Agri-Pulse reports that the “interestingly the EPA would not say which member of the board had “voluntarily “ left.
