
Yakima Fans Cheer on World Cup Matches at New Fan Zone
Yakima residents have a unique chance to experience the excitement of the FIFA World Cup 2026 as the city has been named a designated official FIFA Fan Zone location in Washington State. The world cup games started Thursday.

The event promises free, family-friendly watch parties at the Sozo Sports Complex, making Yakima one of nine cities across the state to host this historic celebration.
The Yakima Fan Zone will feature four matches this month where fans can gather outdoors to cheer on their favorite teams. Attendees are encouraged to arrive an hour and a half before each kickoff. The series kicks off on June 18 with the Mexico vs. Korea Republic match.

The scheduled matches at the Yakima Fan Zone are:
Thursday, June 18th — Mexico v. Korea RepublicGame Time: 6:00 pm | Fan Zone Opens: 4:30 pm
Friday, June 19th — USA v. AustraliaGame Time: 12:00 pm | Fan Zone Opens: 10:30 am
Wednesday, June 24th — Mexico v. CzechiaGame Time: 6:00 pm | Fan Zone Opens: 4:30 pm
Friday, June 25th — USA v. TurkeyGame Time: 7:00 pm | Fan Zone Opens: 5:30 pm

Organizers recommend fans reserve free tickets online in advance and bring lawn chairs or blankets, as the events will be held outdoors. The Fan Zone will also feature a Kid Zone with inflatables, soccer activities, and games to keep young fans entertained. For those of legal drinking age, a beer garden will be available, alongside local vendors, food trucks, and live entertainment. Free FIFA merchandise will be distributed while supplies last.

The watch parties will open an hour and a half before each game, inviting everyone to join in the global celebration right in their own backyard.
