IRRIGON, Ore. (AP) — Nothing runs like a Deere to Wayne Schnell. He still has the first tractor he drove 74 years ago. Schnell was just 11 then. His father had bought the 1941 John Deere Model A for the family farm in Washington state. Schnell has retired and sold his farm, but not his tractor. He has about 60 tractors in his collection and 20 or so hay balers spanning decades of American farm history. Schnell says back in the day, farmers didn't have GPS or air conditioning in their tractors. He tells the East Oregonian that farmers were just glad to sit down while they plowed. Schnell, and his wife, Wanda, have opened the Skinny Bull Ag Museum to share the collection with the community.
