Extra Patrols Start Friday Searching For Impaired Drivers
During 2016, impaired drivers were involved in crashes that resulted in 277 deaths and another 286 serious injuries. The Washington State Patrol arrested 12,949 impaired drivers last year. Each summer in Washington State, an average of 149 people die in traffic collisions. It's why law enforcement will be conducting special emphasis patrols Friday through the Labor Day weekend. The state funds the extra patrols in which law enforcement work overtime to keep roads safe.
