Experts Say Prepare Now For High Water At End Of February

If the long range forecasts are correct the Yakima area could see some warm temperatures and rain at the end of the month that could lead to flooding. Horace Ward the Operations Director at Yakima Valley Emergency Managment says those who live in flood prone areas need to prepare now. Ward says one of the things you can do is purchase pre-made sand bags. David Allen is the co-owner of Steins Ace Hardware at 7200 West Nob Hill Blvd. who says they prepare every February for floods. "We typically bring in a semi truck full of sandbags."
Allen says many people are using the sandbags as weight for vehicle traction but he says they can also be used to stop water.
