I'm not sure how they do it in other cities because I've lived in Yakima for the last 35+ years but I can't imagine other communities know how to mix fundraising and fun, good times and good causes like Yakima.

And here we go again!

Cruising For Food For Rod's House

This Saturday night September 18, 2021, is the final officially authorized cruise night of 2021.  One last chance to shine and show out on the Ave. in downtown Yakima. It's also the night Rod’s House and the Vintiques car club are sponsoring the “CRUSIN' FOR FOOD” food drive to benefit Rod’s House of Yakima.

All donations will be given to Rod’s house an organization that helps homeless youth in Yakima. This is our chance for old car enthusiasts to help out those that are less fortunate.

Rod's House Is Here To Help Kids

Rod's House Mission is: "to build authentic connections with young people, support them in feeling respected and secure in who they are, empower them to reach their full potential, and positively connect them to the community."

That sounds like something all of us can support whether we have a 57 Chevy under a tarp in the garage or not. (or a 77 Mustang) We're encouraged to bring non-perishable food items, snacks, bottled water and personal hygiene items or donations down to cruise night on Yakima Avenue. The Vintiques will set up a donation collection dropoff from 6:00P to 9:00P at Coffee Cravings 118 W. Yakima Ave

Rod's House has a vision for Yakima and it's an ambitious goal!  They envision an END to youth homelessness in the Yakima Valley. "To break the cycle of homelessness we will engage volunteers, donors, and the community to ensure young people's basic human needs are met and that they have a safe, stable home; permanent, positive connections; meaningful education and employment opportunities; behavioral and physical healthcare; and supports that reinforce their individual abilities."

Lot's of Need, Can You Help

Sounds like a big and important job and you can help this Saturday with your donation. While virtue is its own reward, they say they'll have a free gift drawing for those who donate!  And they add - Drive safe, wear a mask if you choose and HAVE FUN!

Sounds like a great way to wrap up a Saturday that includes the Pegasus Polo fundraiser and the Over the Edge fundraiser for Wellness House.  Help Out as many of them as you can!
