Contractors and developers can begin to schedule appointments for existing and new development permits on Wednesday. The action is temporary during the current pandemic but it will allow contractors and developers to submit new applications in person on a scheduled date and time. The Yakima County Commissioners say the appointments allow people to get back to work.
The commissioners say they're also working on other ways to provide online applications and online payment options to streamline permitting.
Appointments can be made beginning Wednesday by calling 574-2300 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Despite the closure of the courthouse building applications and building permits have been issued. In fact Public Services has received 167 building applications during the closure compared to 252 at the same time last year.
