County Hazardous Waste Program Earns Praise

One of the nation's Highly-Effective Programs that's the title the Household Hazardous Waste Program by Yakima County has earned. A recent listing in Waste Advantage Magazine listed Yakima County as 7th in the nation. The magazine praised the county for doing an excellent job despite the low median household income in the valley.
WAM stated “Kudos to Yakima County for serving their community at a high level...” and “This income correlation with environmental services is nothing new and points to opportunities to do better for lower income households”.
Patti Huff is the Hazardous Waste Program Coordinator who serves 17% of households during the year.
