City Council Candidate Settles Suit

Yakima City Council candidate Keith Effler has settled a lawsuit filed against him after claims he was involved in the Rain Shadow Report, a letter sent to voters in District 4 earlier this summer. As part of the settlement he's agreed to pay $10,000 giving each voter in the district $1.

The class action suit was filed by voter Sydnee Galusha over Effler's alleged ties to the report. In the suit she accuses Effler of gaining access to the voter database and passing it to those writing the report. Effler says he decided to settle to avoid further expenses even though his attorney believes he would win the case in court. He says the suit will cost him a total of $15,000.
Effler admits no wrongdoing and the settlement reaches no conclusions.
Effler is currently a candidate for the Yakima City Council District 4 Race
