Bring Your Own Bag If Shopping For Groceries In Tacoma
TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - Tacoma shoppers may have to pay between 5 to 10 cents for paper bags when buy at grocery stores.
KOMO-TV reports Tacoma's plastic bag ban at local grocery stores took effect Wednesday. Under the ordinance, grocers must charge at least 5 cents for each paper bags. The hope is that customers will either pay for more environment-friendly options or bring in their own reusable bags.
Stadium Thriftway Owner Mike Hargreaves says his grocery store is charging 10 cents because each bag costs 15 cents to make.
