The Wapato School District has announced that Oct. 7 will be Blue and Gold Day throughout the district.

That day was chosen as the recognition and opening ceremonies for the new Wapato High School according to a press release.

The big day will start with an event for the students and staff of the high school at 9:30 a.m. There will be speeches school and student body leadership followed by a ribbon cutting and balloon release. Then, at 6:00 p.m., the dedication event for the community will occur in the high school commons area. According to the release, it is designed for the school and the district to thank the community for passing the construction bond.

The night event will also include tours of the new high school.

The total cost of the new school is $43 million.
