Snow. There's a lot of it on the ground and in the forecast for the White Pass Ski Area and that's good news for General Manager Kevin McCarthy. Opening day was Dec. 14 and he says it was a busy Christmas season, with a mix of rain and snow enjoyed by big crowds and good road conditions.

McCarthy says he's always hoping for big snow after the holidays to draw more people to the ski area and it's been snowing ever since. In fact McCarthy says they've seen 2 feet of snow at the base and 3 feet in the upper elevations just since Sunday (Jan. 5). And more snow is in the works. Tuesday night's forecast calls for 7 to 12 inches, plus another 13 to 24 inches Wednesday night.
Officials with the Department of Transportation say despite all the snow, they've been able to clear the road and keep U.S. Highway 12 over White Pass open so far this year.
Skiers and boarders aren't the only people enjoying all the new snow. Many families also spend weekends on the White Pass tubing hill.
Overall, McCarthy says it's been a great ski and snowboard season so far.
