Auditors Office Urging Use of Drop Boxes to Return Ballots
The Yakima County Auditors Office is preparing for the upcoming election urging everyone to use both the mail and drop boxes to return ballots. Auditor Charles Ross says for many people a drop box may be as accessible as a mail box. You will find drop boxes for ballots in nearly every city in the county. The boxes are located within city and town halls and will be open on election day. Drive up drop boxes can be found at 8th and Edison in Sunnyside and on Fort Road in Toppenish across from Legends Casino. There's also drive up drop boxes located in White Swan and in Yakima across from the Yakima County Courthouse on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Auditor Charles Ross says he expects about half of the ballots sent out to be returned by election night. He's predicting a big turnout upwards of 80 percent or more. Ross urges people to use drop boxes but he also trusts the local mail system saying he's never had problems with ballot returns.
