As wildfires continue to burn around the state, a group of lawyers are dedicating their own time to helping fire victims.

Attorneys from the Washington State Association of Justice are giving free legal advice to anyone that's been affected by the recent wildfires in Chelan, Kittitas and Klickitat counties.

Victims can ask questions about insurance claims, property losses, government benefits or any other issues surrounding wildfire devastation, and the attorneys say this legal counsel is completely free.

"It's just simple human compassion," said attorney, Jon Ferguson. "In my case and the case of some of the others, these are our neighbors, these are people that we live with that we see every day. I watched the fire burn everyday last year for two months and you see the devastation and the horror and you just want to help people."

Volunteer lawyers say the free legal assistance program was started last year during the Taylor Bridge Fire near Cle Elum.
