Firefighters were called to the old Boise Cascade mill along I 82 for a bark pile fire early yesterday afternoon. Some 75 firefighters were called to the area to battle the flames and the wind. The fire spread to about 60 acres but no nearby neighbors homes were threatened. Fire officials say they would have been able to douse the fire but the wind made that nearly impossible when they first arrived. Firefighters were able to get control of the fire late yesterday afternoon but not before smoke and debris blew across I 82.

No injuries were reported. In July of last year fire on the property caused 2 million dollars in damage to a large building.
