Here comes a big pump up for the Yakima economy. Rich Austin with the Yakima Valley Sports Commission says the WIAA 1a/2a Hardwood Classic State Basketball Championship set to start on March 4-7. He says it's an event that brings a lot of people who love sports and spend their money in Yakima.
The weekend after that Yakima will see baseball and volleyball championships. First Washington will hold a state robotics competition in the Sundome March 19-21.  Then on March 27th and 28th an event that's been held in Yakima since the early 90's, the State Dance and Drill competition will be held in the Sundome.
Things quiet down at the end of the month and then things get busy again in may with spring sports like tennis, baseball and softball.
