Yakima city Mayor Micah Cawley says he's excited about plans for the upcoming year. The mayor says 2013 will be full of challenges and opportunities. Roads are a top priority for 2013 says Cawley. He's hoping voters support a 30 dollar annual increase in car tabs to help fund the repairs. That issue will be on the ballot in April of next year. And he says another major focus will be North First Street. Everything from the condition of properties and development standards to signage will be part of the discussion about North First Street. Downtown will also be a big focus in 2013 as the city has created a entertainment area for outdoor events behind the Capital Theater hoping to draw more people into the downtown area.
