The Most Famous 'Welcome' Sign in Washington

Dare I say it, the "Welcome to Yakima, The Palm Springs of Washington' is the most famous welcome sign in all of the state. You either love it or hate it (I happen to love it). We still argue amongst ourselves what that really means; does that mean we have crazy old coots who love to play golf all the time or we have dry, desert-y weather and lots of sunshine?

I say it means both.

Each town has a welcome sign that I take note of, if for novelty's sake more than anything else. My favorite "welcome to our town" sign is the one in Roslyn, home of the Northern Exposure TV show fame! They have a drawn image of an old mining wagon full of coal to pay homage to the miners who founded the town in 1886.
