Today is Primary Election Day in Washington State. But apparently a lot of people are ignoring ballots in Yakima County.

Elections Manager Kathy Fisher says she expects a small turnout. She says less than 25 percent of the 54,000 ballots sent out will be returned today. “The expected turnout for this type of election, non-presidential, is about 20 to 25 percent.”

So far nearly 20 percent of the ballots have been returned to the office. Ballots are due in the auditors today.

You can drop your ballot in a drop box across from the county Auditors office or at Sunnyside Worksource office.
