YVC officials say the goals are to improve awareness of the economic, academic and equity advantages of attending community colleges

The scholarship program was started in 2016 and since then Yakima Valley College has been able to provide 50 scholarships to undocumented students.

The local school joins 12 other community and technical colleges and one four-year institution in the program.

The graduating class of 2018 includes 1,086 students ranging in age 17 to 65.
