Brown says he's in support of the effort not only to slow down drivers but also he says traffic enforcement leads to the arrests of people wanted for other crimes as well.

In fact the Washington State Patrol and Deputies from the Yakima County Sheriff's Office tweeted out a friendly reminder for drivers this week.

Capt. Jay Seely says right now only patrol officers are handling traffic issues but patrol officers are also in short supply.

The patrols are underway in the Yakima Valley and throughout the state. Statewide, more than 75 local law enforcement agencies are adding dedicated patrols.

Troopers say the crash happened at about 5:45 am when a driver was traveling south on State Route 823, 2 miles Northeast of Selah.

It happened at 12:19 am Monday when 48-year-old Samantha Webb of Yakima was a passenger in a Ford F-350 pick-up truck traveling eastbound on I-82 near Yakima.

The cause of the crash and the crash itself remain under investigation by the Washington State Patrol.
