Did you park in any of the new spaces in downtown Yakima over the weekend?

Last week city crews changed hundreds of spots from parallel to angled parking in the downtown area. There are now 140 new parking spaces in the heart of downtown Yakima. The switch from parallel to angled parking freed up the space for the new spots.

You can find these new spots near where the planned downtown plaza will be situated on Chestnut Street between First and Fourth streets and on Sgt. Pendleton Way near City Hall.

The striping has caused some delays and workers are not done yet. Originally, the plan was to finish work Friday, but more work remains.

So expect more of those same delays around downtown early this week.
