Sunfair Parade Canceled

The 2012 Yakima Sunfair Parade, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22 has been canceled due to poor air quality.

Sunfair Parade Chairman Joe Mann told Newstalk KIT Friday that due to the cancellation of many school events friday night, and  the forecast of worsening air quality for Saturday, the decision was made to cancel the parade. Mann also said many out of town entries decided not to travel to Yakima, and that many schools did not want subject their marching bands to the diminished air quality. Officials tell us the parade will not be rescheduled for a later date this year.
