A 28-year-old man was in court Tuesday facing a charge of vehicular homicide under the influence.

State patrol troopers say Steven Gibbs of Selah was under the influence when he crashed his truck into another truck driven by 18-year-old Clayton Kester on North Wenas Road March 7. Kester died at a Seattle Hospital on Saturday.

Troopers say the crash happened when Gibbs, at a high speed, attempted to pass Kester as Kester was turning left onto Lancaster Road.

Gibbs was recently released from the hospital and then arrested. He is being held in the Yakima County jail.
