Yakima Police say two men involved in a fatal fight at a Yakima home were not related as authorities first thought. However police say the two were former cell mates at a state prison.

21-year-old Gage Roberts is expected to be charged Today with first degree murder in the beating death of 45-year-old Eric Taylor who police first thought was Roberts uncle. Taylor was beat to death during a fight in the basement of a home in the 11 hundred block of Cherry avenue on Monday. Yakima Police say both men spent time at the prison in Connell and were cellmates for a short time until Rogers was released in January. Yakima police say the two were drinking for hours on Monday before the fight that lead to the death of 45-year-old Eric Taylor.

A spokeswoman for the prison north of Pasco says Rogers served time for assault and animal cruelty in Ferry County and was released in January. Taylor serve time for an escape conviction in Chelan County and was released in March.
