The Seattle Mariners winning streak was snapped at five games last night as they lost to the Boston Red Sox 5-4. David Ortiz led the Red Sox offense with his 449th home run of his career in the first inning,  he added a line drive RBI single off the wall in the third.

The Mariners hit three home-runs in the loss. Kyle Seager hit a two-run shot, Mike Zenino and Brad Miller added solo-shots but the Mariners rally came up short in the ninth, as Dustin Ackley grounded out with two men on with the final out.

It was a rough night for Mariners pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma. He gave up four runs, eight hits in only four innings to drop to 5-4 on the season.

The Mariners are off tonight, and open a three game weekend series with the Cleveland Indians tomorrow at Safeco Field. Last nights loss dropped the Mariners record to 42-37 in third place in the American League West, six games behind first-place Oakland and two and a half games behind second place Los Angeles.
