Famous Dave's Plans to Shake Some Things Up

According to Restaurant News, there's good news for entrepreneurs is that Famous Dave's is expanding to feature a new business model that features the same great food, maybe even a different menu and some select options, in a more modern setting. Wait til you found out what the plan is (keep reading)!

Although Famous Dave's has only been in Yakima since 2013, the restaurant chain known for amazing BBQ, burgers, southern sides like mac & cheese and baked beans, and so much more has been in business since 1994.

I'm a big fan of Famous Dave's and have been since I visited for the first time back in 2008 when I lived in Kennewick, WA, for a short time. These casual dining restaurants offer a place to check in, have a seat, get your food served to you, opt for dessert if needed (spoiler alert: it's always needed), and enjoy each other's company while eating amazing food.

The traditional, dine-in 'casual dining' Famous Dave's isn't going anywhere. This new concept isn't meant to replace Famous Dave's but will give more options for those hoping to open a Famous Dave's in a more cost-efficient way.

My friend from California was in Yakima last year for work and he was extremely excited to see Yakima had a Famous Dave's. And who doesn't love Famous Dave's?! You know this dad does.

What Is the New Famous Dave's Dining Model?

This new business model has the option to order from the counter, find your seat and then they'll call you when your food is ready. It sounds a bit like a Dickey's here in Yakima or a Porters BBQ if you've been to those in Tri-Cities or Spokane.

And I'm all for it.

But bringing a Famous Dave's franchise to any city isn't cheap. To go through the steps to franchise, a Famous Dave's costs about 1.5 million dollars. This new seating setting will cost about 1/3 of that price.

The brisket and ribs, which are top sellers, will still be available. As well as other favorites on the menu. I'm just hoping they keep those cornbread muffins. Those are my personal favorite.

I love our Famous Dave's here in Yakima (Union Gap) but would love to see this new model show up somewhere on the west side of town as well so we can cover all areas of Yakima.

Meanwhile, this restaurant in Seattle is supposed to be the #1 place on a Washington foodie's bucket list.
