It's always unfortunate to hear but it's another round of bankruptcies, this time for a popular chain of retail furniture stores with over 300 locations across the United States including 7 locations here in the Pacific Northwest.

These come from the parent company Franchise Group.

The Franchise Group has several brands under their name including The Vitamin Shoppe, Pet Supplies Plus, Buddy's Home Furnishings, and Wag N Wash.

It seems like those stores aren't going anywhere, at least for the time being.

The one in question is a furniture and appliance store called American Freight.

American Freight has been around since 1994 offering quality furniture, mattresses, and appliances at low, low prices.

WKYC is reporting that Franchise Group is filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy and has plans on closing all 328 locations.

Although they don't have a lot of those locations in the northwest, they do have 7 of them including two in Seattle, one in Portland and 4 in Boise.

This is just for the American Freight stores. The idea of going bankrupt was just for American Freight locations which will remain open as they liquidate all remaining inventory in their stores.

As of this time, there's no word on what will happen to The Vitamin Shoppe, Pet Supplies Plus, Buddy's Home Furnishings, and Wag N Wash. Could those be next on the list of stores to liquidate? Anything is possible. I'm sure Franchise Group is trying to not get to that point but if anything happens we'll let you know.
