I love to travel. Whether it's to sunny California, exploring New York, visiting my friends in the Midwest or just going to a place I haven't been before it's fun to get out and experience what we may not have in the Pacific Northwest.

The best way to travel is via plane, but the price of airline tickets can be pretty rough.

I had an event I was going to last year in Phoenix, Arizona. Looking at flight prices, it was literally cheaper for me to fly to London, UK than it was for me to fly from Yakima to Phoenix.

And learning how much it costs my other friends to fly somewhere for a fraction of the price, sometimes I get it because I have to fly out of Yakima or Tri-Cities and not directly out of Seattle (though there are options to fly out of Seattle) I love the convenience of just flying home. The thought of sitting on an airplane for a few hours, to sit and drive a couple hours home from Seattle isn't very appealing.

VegasInsider took every state and ranked them how expensive the average flight is and, as it turns out, the average flight out of Washington State will cost you above average compared to the other states.

Seattle or not, Washington State comes 12th place for most expensive state to fly.

The worst is Alaska which makes sense.

Utah seems like an odd one, though. Utah is 2nd most expensive but they have a great airport in SLC.

And if you think you may find cheaper flights in Oregon, it turns out those are even more expensive than Washington coming in 7th place.

Minnesota has had the biggest price drop so great for them. the MSP airport is probably my favorite airport I've ever been in. Have you been? It's like a mall but has airplanes.
