One of my New Year's Resolutions is to visit Philly Stop for a cheesesteak. It's not in the Yakima Valley (it's in Kittitas) but I saw somebody mention it on Facebook; they highly recommended it, so now I'm foodie curious!

It's funny how just seeing a complete stranger online recommend a place can lead you (and me) to eating there. That's why Yelp updates their top local restaurants list every month. Let's see who people like you and me gave high ratings to last month in December.

Yakima’s Top Restaurants: See Why They Shine!

The list of the top ten restaurants that Yakima locals rated the highest last month is definitely diverse. I love that this list includes everything from Indian cuisine to tasty Mexican tamales, beans and rice, American burger flare, Asian-inspired dishes, steakhouse food, plus one upscale hot spot, and one very divey diner.

These restaurants shine because of the employees and owners behind them--all local people like you and me. There's nothing wrong with chain restaurants, of course, but one thing you'll quickly learn about people living in Yakima, we love to support our local small businesses!

Which restaurants do you think deserved to be on this list?

I would have liked to see Yakima Thai Cuisine on the list, but it didn't make it. This is one of my favorite places to go when I'm craving shrimp pad Thai.

**Please note: All restaurants in this list except for one are open for lunch and dinner (Crafted is only open for dinner) and all restaurants but one are open 7 days a week (WaterFire is closed on Mondays).
