I went to a Family Night for my daughter's middle school and they held it inside the Eisenhower High School cafeteria.

While I was sitting down eating on the complimentary dinner they provided from That Guy Who Cooks Food Truck, I looked up from my delicious plate of bean, Mexican rice, and beef street tacos and noticed a big banner sign announcing an upcoming Ike fundraiser.

Eisenhower High School's Zesta Cucina Takeover Night

Now, that's cool, a takeover at Zesta Cucina Italian Restaurant! The event will happen on Friday evening, January 17th, until 7:45 p.m.

If you are a Yakima newbie, Zesta is located in Glenwood Square (5110 Tieton Dr).

The Yakima Schools Foundation Bowl-a-Thon, "Bowling for a Brighter Future"

This reminds me about another cool fundraiser coming up soon that will also benefit Yakima-area schools—the Yakima School's Foundation Bowl-a-Thon. This fun and unique way to raise money to help out area schools will be held at the Nob Hill Bowling Center (3807 W Nob Hill Dr) on Saturday, April 19th, at 12 p.m.

The bowl-a-thon will have participants bowl in teams of 4 to raise a minimum of $400. What's fun about this fundraiser is that the last two remaining public teams will get to compete against the amazing students of the Eisenhower bowling league!

What a fun way to get the public involved in fundraising, so congrats to Ike and the YSF for your efforts. I wish you much success in all that you do, and you just might see me at one (or both) of these great events.

I can empathize with parents who take time out of their busy lives to help their kids achieve goals through school fundraisers. I have a daughter who will be entering high school this fall, so I'm sure I'll be wrangled into fundraising for something when it's my turn, too!
