Is Dr. Pepper ‘Blackberry’ What The Doctor Ordered For Yakima?

If you've read any of my other 'Timmy Tries' articles, especially the ones where I'm tasting and reviewing different forms of soft drinks, sodas, pops, etc., then you probably know by now that my favorite go-to drink is Dr. Pepper.

But the different varieties have left me a little disappointed. Maybe it's because you can't top perfection, or maybe they just weren't great. Tastes vary, and I get that.

Cherry was good, strawberry was not even close to my favorite, and the coconut flavor wasn't bad.

This flavor of blackberry I was excited for! Mainly because when I saw it at the store in Yakima, I thought it said Black Cherry, one of my favorite flavors (especially Mike's Hard Lemonade (drink responsibly)).

When I got home and realized my error, I was still excited to try it, especially since I'm not sure when the last time I had blackberry (if ever) was.

Taste Test of Dr. Pepper 'Blackberry'

The first crack of the can smelled fruity, which is nice and expected. The taste... soda and SweeTarts candy.

It was sweet! It wasn't bad, but MAN, was it SweeTart tasting. I finished my can and was done for a while. I had another one at dinner, and I think I'm done with the 12-pack I bought.

My wife asked me what I thought (she doesn't drink soda), and I told her it was about a 5 out of 10.

Luckily, we have 2 other people to help me review this new flavor of soda.

2nd Opinion Taste Test of Dr. Pepper 'Blackberry'

My brother, Chris, was at my house for lunch yesterday and tried one with me. He pinpointed something from our childhood that I don't quite agree with but sent shivers down my spine.

"Uhhg... it's Dimetapp!" - Chris

Dimetapp is a children's cold medicine that our mom fed us when we were sick. It was a horrible grape flavor (and I like grape, but this was not good in the 80s & 90s).

Side Note: it really made me mad in the early 2000s when they introduced Dimetapp Cherry! CHERRY!?!?!?! After all those years, they finally thought to change the flavor!!!

Back to the point, my brother did not care for Dr. Pepper 'Blackberry'.

3rd Opinion Taste Test of Dr. Pepper 'Blackberry'

My BFF and work-life-mate John Riggs, who has helped me out in the previous reviews, gave it a try.

His favorite soda is Coke, and he's not much of a Doctor Pepper fan, but he does love Blackberries, and loves this soda!

He said he didn't get the normal Dr. Pepper taste from it, but all blackberry!
