Hundreds of people enjoyed music, food and fun Thursday night during Yakima's second annual Downtown Summer Nights concert series.

The show started at 5 p.m., and the crowd started to grow on South Fourth Street at least half an hour before the show started.

Yakima City Manager Tony O'Rourke says he is pleased people are enjoying the downtown area.

Compared to where we were last year for that first event, this is significantly larger. So this a great start to a great series.

And O'Rourke thinks last night's crowd shows that people love a central gathering place, or a central plaza -- something city officials are hoping to create in the future in Downtown Yakima.

The concert series continues next Thursday at 5 p.m.. For more info check out newstalkkit.com.
