County Clerk Candidate Fired as Municipal Court Clerk

The city of Yakima has fired municipal court clerk Sarah Matheny and has asked the state attorney general's office to investigate.

Matheny was fired by the city Monday for using her position to check the records of her primary election opponents in the race for Yakima County Clerk. An article in today's Yakima Herald-Republic says Matheny plans to sue the city for wrongful termination.

Matheny was let go by the city on Monday following a disciplinary hearing last week.
