The Government Affairs Committee of the Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce will be holding a debate Tuesday, Oct. 22 regarding Prop 1.

Proposition 1 will allow the residents of Yakima to decide if the city council will be required to have a 5-2 super majority in order to pass any tax increases.

The event will be open to all members of the chamber and feature two guest speakers. Ben Shoval will speak out in favor of Prop 1 while Tony Sandoval will present the opposing view.

This will be a brown bag lunch event taking place at noon at the chamber's Mercy Leadership Center.

Yakima voters received their ballots this week and will be able to start filling them out and voting on Prop 1 among other races. Ballots are due Tuesday, Nov. 5.
