Mass shootings at schools and shopping centers have become a reality for many communities and officials in Yakima and Union Gap want to be prepared in case anything ever happens at the Valley Mall in Union Gap.

Director of the Yakima County Office of Emergency Management Jim Hall says they will hold a full scale active shooter exercise that will involve Union Gap police and firefighters and officials from the mall, public works, hospitals and other mutual aid response departments and agencies from throughout the valley.

The exercise starts at 7:45 A.M. and is expected to finish at about 10:00 a.m. this morning.
