The Washington State Patrol says the driver of a semi-truck has been arrested for investigation of vehicular homicide following an eight-vehicle crash that killed two people on Interstate 90.The driver of the semi-truck has been identified as 24-year-old Daryel Rueda from Zillah. Troopers say they believe Rueda was under the influence of drugs Friday morning when he lost control in the westbound lanes near Snoqualmie Pass, causing the chain-reaction crash.
Two people in a passenger car were killed at the scene, and five people were taken to Overlake Medical Center in Bellevue for non-life-threatening injuries. The two killed have been identified as 52-year-old Richard B. Slightam, AND 50-year-old Carmen L. Lang both died at the scene. BOTH were from Ronald city.
The crash was initially reported as two separate incidents, but authorities determined that they were all part of the same crash. It closed the westbound lanes for much of the day.
