The YWCA shelter is making a big impact on the community helping an average of 4500 domestic violence victims every year. The Executive Director Erin Black says it's especially tough during the holidays when many victims are forced to move out of homes and apartments to escape domestic violence. "There's a lot of mixed emotions because in one sense you're having to uproot children and even yourself from an environment that's been your home. So that change or disruption can be very difficult." To make things easier this holiday season for the families at the shelter an event is planned Friday called the YWCA Special Angels. Black is urging the community to donate toys and cash so families at the shelter can enjoy a Christmas away from home this year. The Morning News will be live at the YWCA from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Friday morning on KIT.
