Yakima Valley Community College will offer the course "Plants and Wildlife of Washington' during its spring quarter starting March 30.

The class is intended for non-science majors who are interested in a lab science and community members wanting to expand their knowledge. The main emphasis will be on the plants and wildlife in Washington, especially those locally. Students will learn to recognize common species and understand the special adaptations that each organism has for survival. Other topics covered will include ecosystem processes, climate, geology, and human influences both past and present. Field trips are required as part of this course and often involve hiking over uneven terrain.

The class meets for lectures on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Labs are scheduled on

Wednesday and Friday from 8:30-10:20 a.m.

Registration is March 23-27.
