Thousands of Yakima County voters were able to vote over the past weekend after a record amount of ballots arrived in mailboxes late last week. 113, 380 ballots were mailed to registered voters. Yakima County Auditor Charles Ross says if you want the local voters guide it's online, full of information. "Just click on the auditors office website" Just click on voters guide for local information. If you are a registered voter you received the state guide in the mail but it's online as well.
It's a busy ballot full of statewide and federal offices and issues. The local races you'll see on the ballot are for seats on Yakima County Superior Court bench and the Yakima County Commission. The race for a 4 year term as a judge in Yakima County Superior Court is between incumbent Douglas Federspiel and challenger Yakima attorney Alex Newhouse. And on the Yakima County Commission you'll see races for district one between incumbent Mike Leita and Eric Geary and for district two it's a race for between Debra Manjarrez and Ron Anderson. If you live in the city of Mabton you'll see a school levy on your ballot to support capital improvements throughout the Mabton School District. Your ballot is due on November 8. If you live in the lower valley you can mail your ballot or on election day you can drop it off at Toppenish High School.
