It's called the Fit Together Community Campaign. It's a fundraising effort by the Yakima YMCA to raise money for the YMCA City Aquatics Center at Chesterly Park. YMCA Executive Director Bob Romero says so far they've reached 81 percent of the fundraising goal of $20 million dollars. "We have surpassed $16 million so we have to raise that balance which is about $3.8 million that we are looking at securing."
Work on the project started in 2011. To help build the facility the YMCA partnering with the city of Yakima and Yakima Rotary to make it a reality.
You can get information and donate to the campaign at ymcafits.org.
