Nothing like a jump start to get you started. Experts say  you can really clean up if you get a jump on the weekend competition by having your yard sale on a Friday. "I earn three times the money on Friday that I do on Saturday," reveals Lynda Hammond, author of The Garage Sale Gal's Guided to Making Money Off Your Stuff.

To reap even richer rewards, Hammond does not put price tags on her merchandise, figuring a buyer might love an item the seller hates and offer a higher-than-anticipated price.

Another yard sale maven, Ava Seavey, author of Ava's Guide To Garage Sale Gold, advises sellers not to be too pushy. "It is not a retail store," she says. "You'll make more money if you're not hovering."
